Roku announced the launching of the 3M Streaming Projector powered by the Roku Streaming Stick. This is the first product to utilize the Roku Streaming Stick with others, such as various brands of TVs, to come in the near future.
In combination with the Roku Streaming Stick, the new 3M Streaming Projector provides its users with access to more than 600 Roku channels. The projector is so tiny it can fit in one hand.
But don’t let its small size fool you. The projector is capable of projecting an image up to 120 inches and seems ideal for gatherings such as backyard movie parties, family movie nights and private gatherings.
The 3M Streaming Projector powered by the Roku Streaming Stick is capable of running up to two-hours and 45 minute on battery. The 3M Streaming Projector can project nearly anywhere a Wi-Fi connection can be made and viewed on nearly any wall, a ceiling or on a fence.
The 3M Streaming Projector is retail priced at $299. Amazon.com currently is taking pre-orders for the 3M Streaming Projector and shipping will begin Oct. 22.

A quick shoutout to Danville and our community! Just a guess, but I’m thinking “Danville, Ky.,” may have been one of the most popular search terms on the Internet last week.
And while I am no political fanatic, by any means, having our small town chosen as the host to such a major political event as the vice presidential debate for the second time says something special about our little town.
I am proud to say that I have been raised here in Danville. Kudos to everyone who had anything to do with the debate. Visitors, thanks for coming. I hope you enjoyed your time here. Danville, you rock!
If by chance you missed the debate festivities, relive some of the moments by visiting the following Web sites:
- View our paper’s coverage of the debate at www.centralkynews.com/amnews/news/debate2012/.
- Visit the website of the official host of the event at Centre College Debate 2012 at www.centre.edu/centredebate2012/.
- Do a simple search on any search engine for any combination of the words Vice Presidential Debate 2012 and Danville KY and you will find plenty of debate video footage and article links.
- If you have a Roku, several channels offer video footage from the debate. In addition, on both the Roku and Apple TV, the debate can be seen via the WSJ Live app.
Linux update
Ubuntu 12.10, codenamed Quantal Quetzal, is set to be released on Thursday. This released of the Linux-based distro will include Ubuntu Web Apps, in an attempt to bring the users into a cloud-based environment. Updates include a new kernel and an updated Unity desktop environment.
In addition, the downloaded Ubuntu ISO image must be burned to a DVD as it is too large to fit on a regular CD.
