A diamond ring at Macy’s, $350; A pair of jeans from Express, $31.44; winning the Chairman’s Award from JC Penney two years in a row, a dinner in Dallas for the manager, engraved plaques and a monetary gain for the store — priceless.
“I’ve been with JC Penney for 34 years, and I’ve been in this store for six years,” Manager Deb Dahlgren said Friday. “In the six years, we’ve grown the store each year. The Chairman’s Award awards the top 10 percent of the company for results.  We have over 1,100 stores, so only about  110 stores win the award. That means you had the top results for sales, profit, customer service. You had the top results in the company.”
In addition to earning the Chairman’s Award, Dahlgren also received the Store Manager of the Year Award, for having the highest results out of 16 stores in the district of Kentucky.
“It’s a huge, huge honor,” she said. Dahlgren said the company has always been about growth and her aim is to keep the local store growing as well.
“I want not only this community, but every community for JC Penney, to come here, enjoy their shopping experience, and in turn, that will help us grow even more for them,” Dahlgren said.
Dahlgren also said the benefits of customer support equal more employment for the town and greater store expansion.
“We are on the docket for the company to have this store expanded in the spring of 2012. We have been working hard to get that, and it’s all due to the community’s support and our growth over the last six years  I’ve been here. That is what has attributed to them expanding our store.¿It’s due to the community and the support that they’ve given us. Shopping here instead of leaving town to go somewhere else. We want that continued support.”
JC Penney is located in the Danville Manor Shopping Center on Hustonville Road.
