LEXINGTON — WHITE FLAG Performance Group, a Baltimore theatre company co-founded in January 2012 by Danville native Rowen Haigh, announces the kickoff of their inaugural summer tour this June, hosted by Actor’s Guild of Lexington. WHITE FLAG brings to AGL an original play, “Really You Should Use Bullets,” a tragi-comedy that takes the audience on a jaunt through the afterlife.
Within the episodic structure of a hero’s journey, “Really You Should Use Bullets” presents the story of a clown navigating the underworld in an effort to find where she belongs. Exploring themes of belonging and alienation, Bullets is ribald, poignant, and delightfully absurd. Life after death has never been so much fun. “Really You Should Use Bullets” features WHITE FLAG associate artists Lesley Berkowitz and Amy Kronzer.
“I, in particular, am thrilled to be bringing our work to Kentucky,” says WHITE FLAG co-founder and company member Rowen Haigh. “I grew up in Danville and it’s really exciting to come back and share with folks what I’m doing in other parts of the country. It’s also an incredible feeling to join in the vibrant arts and culture scene here. I love being a part of that, even as a visitor.”
Currently based in Baltimore, WHITE FLAG specializes in devised work; that is, theatre that is collaboratively generated and developed. Really You Should Use Bullets was created by WHITE FLAG company members with the support of Towson University, and was featured as part of Generous Company’s Gumbo in Baltimore in January 2012.
