Comedians perform Thursday at Danville's Mallards Restaurant
“Star Search” finalist Mike Malone (www.malonecomedy.com) will headline a comedy show Thursday at Mallard’s Restaurant. The show starts at 8 p.m.; doors open at 6:45 p.m.
With his rubber face, energy, sarcasm andwildly imaginative views on life, Malone works from New York to L.A., having now performed in 30-plus states. He’s been featured on both “The Bob and Tom Radio and TV Shows” in addition to appearances on WGN TV, The National Lampoon’s Operation Comedy Tour, NBC TV’s “Night Shift with Kevin Ferguson,” and XM/ Sirius Satellite radio. Malone helps charitable causes such as The American Cancer Society, The U.S. Marine Corps, Relay for Life, The Wounded Warrior Project and Toys for Tots “laugh all the way to the bank.”
The middle act Thursday will be Chicago’s J.T. Thomas (www.myspace.com/jtthomascomedy). Thomas has appeared in sitcom pilots for NBC and BET as well as on Bill Bellamy’s “Who’s Got Jokes” and “The Bob and Tom Show.”
Thomas, an alumnus of Southern Illinois University, is a U.S. Army veteran, actor, writer, frat boy, comedian, single dad and former professional wrestler — yes, pro wrestler. His eclectic style spans all ages, races and gender.
Indianapolis’ Brent Terhune (brentcomedy.com) hosts the show. His act includes characters, voices, one-liners and time-tested monologues. Terhune’s laid-back style is not only absurd and funny, it’s relevant. He began doing standup while studying communication at the University of Indianapolis.
Terhune co-host’s a popular podcast, “The Interweb Podshow,” which is enjoyed by dozens of listeners. Whether talking about the everyday struggles of being a redhead, life as a college student and radio DJ, or his off-the-wall Uncle Frank and family, Terhune keeps his audience laughing.
