Danville-Boyle County Humane Society pets of the week for Aug. 7

Our featured pets for this week are Alexis and Porter. Alexis is a cuddly, 12-week-old tabby kitten. This little sweetheart is both charming and playful. Alexis wants all your attention and will use her big brown eyes to full advantage. When she posed for her picture, she really hammed it up by trying to blow little “kitten kisses” at the camera!

Porter is a kind and gentle beagle mix. He is on the small side, weighing less than 20 pounds. Porter is a quiet fellow. He’s very friendly and a little submissive. Porter just wants to snuggle up next to you for comfort and companionship. Do you have room in your heart and home to give Porter the love that he deserves?

If you are considering adding a pet to your family, please come to our adoption center on the Danville bypass next to the fairgrounds, and visit the beautiful animals waiting for new homes. You also may preview many of our available pets at our website www.homes4pets.org.

Volunteering at our PetSmart adoption center at the Brannon Crossing Shopping Center is easy, fun and rewarding. You can help save the lives of homeless pets. It only takes a few hours on a weekend afternoon. Contact humanevolunteer@gmail.com for more information today. Giving back feels great — see for yourself.

The humane society currently is caring for many kittens and puppies. Donations of Purina kitten chow and Purina puppy chow are needed along with cat litter and cleaning supplies, including bleach, paper towels, laundry detergent, dish detergent and hand soap. We always need used towels and blankets. Your gifts to the animals are greatly appreciated.

Low-cost, high-quality spay/neuter surgery is available for pet owners with low and fixed incomes. Call our Happy Paws Clinic today at (859) 691-1137 for an appointment. Please help control pet over-population by having your pet spayed or neutered.
