Danville-Boyle County Humane Society Pets of the Week for July 31

Our featured pets for this week are Clay and Cleo. Clay is a cute, 4-month-old black and white kitten. He came to the shelter with his mother and littermates when he was just 5 weeks old. Clay is a staff favorite. He has such a big personality. Clay is loving and sweet, with just a little bit of impish behavior to keep you on your toes. Clay is sure to be a fun addition to his new home.

Cleo is a beautiful, tri-color mixed-breed puppy. She’s 9 weeks old and may be part Boxer and part hound. This little girl is just as sweet as she looks. Cleo is quite the charmer, with her big brown eyes. She will make a great family pet. With love and training, she will provide many years of loyal companionship.

If you are considering adding a pet to your family, please come to our adoption center on the Danville bypass next to the fairgrounds, and visit the beautiful animals waiting for new homes. You also may preview many of our available pets at our website www.homes4pets.org.

Our next obedience class will be 13:30 p.m. Saturday at Stuart Powell Ford on the Danville bypass. The class, taught by dog trainer Cheri Carbone, is free for anyone who has adopted a dog from a shelter or rescue. Others are welcome to join in for a small donation to the humane society.

The humane society currently is caring for many kittens and puppies. Donations of Purina kitten chow and Purina puppy chow are needed along with cat litter and cleaning supplies, including bleach, paper towels, laundry detergent, dish detergent and hand soap. We always need used towels and blankets. Your gifts to the animals are greatly appreciated.

Low-cost, high-quality spay/neuter surgery is available for pet owners with low and fixed incomes. Call our Happy Paws Clinic at (859) 691-1137 for an appointment.  Please help control pet over-population by having your pet spayed or neutered.
