Classes

Love to Write — 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18 at the Casey County Extension Education Building. This group is free and open to the public. If you like to write come and be inspired with this group led by Verna Rayburn. This welcoming group will help you put pen to paper and see the creative ideas flow. Boyle County Alzheimer’s Family Caregiver Training — 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 28 at at the Boyle County Extension Service office, 99 Corporate Drive. Program is for those who have a friend or family member who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia. Local and statewide experts in aging and Alzheimer’s care will present on the disease, caregiving basics, legal decisions and how to care for the caregiver. Caregiver Connection Series: Helping Your Loved One Complete the Journey — 1-4:15 p.m. Sept. 12 and 19 at  the Madison County Public Library, 319 Chestnut St., Berea. The late stage program is specialized for family caregivers and will offer information about Alzheimer’s disease and caregiving. It will also provide an opportunity to gain a new perspective on caring for a loved one that is nearing the end of their journey in Alzheimer’s. Local experts from Hospice Care Plus, Central Baptist Hospital, the VA, and the Alzheimer’s Association will present topics that are valuable to family caregivers of persons with dementia. Body Recall  — 9-10 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays through Nov. 16 at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 555 E. Lexington Ave., Danville. Helps regain mobility, strength, energy and flexibility. Exercise for all ages. Exercises are done in a chair and with a chair. The exercises are also great for breast cancer recovery, heart patients, diabetics, arthritis, strokes and knee and hip replacements. Instructor is Carolyn Walter, (859) 548-8203.  

Danville-Boyle County Adult Education Learning Center — Open 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Thursday at 1714 Perryville Road, Danville Square Suites, 112 (next to Big Lots). Mercer County Adult Education — Free GED preparation, workplace soft-skill training, basic computer training and other instruction based on needs of participant.
