Scholarships
A Mercer County High School graduate has earned a scholarship from the Kentucky Cattlemen’s Association.
This year’s recipients received their award during the commodity breakfast at the Kentucky State Fair. Each received a $1,000 scholarship toward their college education.
Matthew Hamilton from Harrodsburg, a graduate of Mercer County High School, was the Region 5 winner. He attends University of Kentucky majoring in bio-systems and agriculture engineering.
Graduates
Univeristy of Liverpool: Timothy Markwald, a 1978 graduate of Boyle County High School, was awarded a master of science degree in information technology with merit during the July commencement at the University of Liverpool.
The award was presented by Sir David King, chancellor of Liverpool University in Liverpool, England.
Markwald currently is under contract to the federal government in a consulting role with the United States Census Bureau in Washington, D.C.
Markwald is the son of Ervin and Joyce Markwald, of Hot Springs Village, Ark.
