Portrait of Centre College grad added to exhibit at state Capitol

FRANKFORT (AP) — Portraits of three Kentucky woman, including Centre College graduate Crit Luallen, are being added to an exhibit at the state Capitol.

Luallen, Willa Beatrice Brown and Joan Riehm were inducted into the Kentucky Women Remembered exhibit on Tuesday. Gov. Steve Beshear took part in a ceremony along with the Kentucky Commission on Women, which oversees the exhibit.

Luallen worked for six Kentucky governors and completed her second term as Kentucky state auditor earlier this year.

Brown and Riehm were given the honor posthumously. Beshear’s office says Brown, of Barren County, was the first African-American woman to be licensed to fly in the U.S., and Riehm was the first female deputy mayor of Louisville.
