Our featured pets for this week are Mickey and Heart. Mickey is a cute and inquisitive 9-month-old tabby. Although he came to the shelter as a stray, Mickey is very social. He responds positively to attention and enjoys being held and petted. Mickey is ready to spend the rest of his life being your best friend.
Heart is a sweet 1-year-old Pug mix. She was surrendered to the shelter when her owners could no longer care for their three dogs. Heart is lively and fun and enjoys going for walks and playing in the yard. Heart weighs less than 20 pounds and will make a great addition in her forever home.
If you are considering adding a pet to your family, visit our adoption center on the Danville bypass next to the fairgrounds, and visit the beautiful animals waiting for new homes. Check out many of our available pets at our website, www.homes4pets.org.
Mark June 2 on your calendar. The Danville-Boyle County Humane Society will host an open house 1-3 p.m. to celebrate our 40th anniversary. Everyone is invited to join us for a fun afternoon. There will be door prizes and free refreshments, and the adoption fee for adult dogs and cats will be just $40. Celebrate with us while visiting our wonderful kittens, cats, puppies and dogs that are available for adoption.
Also, as part of our 40th anniversary celebration, the DBCHS is sponsoring a T-shirt design contest. The winning design will be selected on originality, content and visual appeal, and the winner will receive a free T-shirt and $100. Entries must be in by July. For more information and contest rules go to www.homes4pets.org/news.
