Danville has another interim city manager.
After almost two hours in executive session the city commission unanimously approved hiring Ron Scott to take over the position left vacant when John W.D. Bowling resigned last week. He will be paid a salary of $6,000 a month plus benefits.
Scott, who moved from Frankfort to a home on U.S. 127 in 1993, worked for the Kentucky League of Cities for 26 years, including 15 years as the assistant executive director, before retiring in 2001. Since then he has worked as a contract lobbyist for Preservation Kentucky.
Scott also served as secretary of the Kentucky City Managers Association where he said he also worked with many of Danville’s former city managers. Scott said he has long had aspirations of becoming as a city manager himself and wants the opportunity to apply for the permanent position during the upcoming search.
