No one was injured when a large box truck overturned on Ky. 52 this morning but the road between Lancaster and Danville could be closed until 1 p.m. or later.
Garrard County Deputy Tevis Graham said a large wrecker was called in from Richmond to remove the truck about 10 a.m. and estimated the operation would take two to three hours at least.
The accident occurred about 9:40 a.m. when driver Francisco Marta of Indianapolis was eastbound near Little Dixie Road and the truck, carrying large spools of cable, dipped off the right side of the road. Marta said that when he tried to bring the the back on the road it got up on two wheels for several feet and then the weight in the back shifted, causing the truck to flip on its side across both lanes of the highway.
Marta and a passenger were wearing seat belts and were not injured, he said.
Emergency workers were diverting traffic down side roads on both side of the accident, which occurred about three miles west of Lancaster.
