The Community Arts Center of Danville-Boyle County, a non-profit organization working to create arts opportunities in the region, is competing with charities nationwide for grants ranging from $10,000 to $250,000 from the Chase Community Giving program.
Residents can help by voting for the Community Arts Center through the Chase Community Giving program on Facebook.
Through the use of social media networks, the program already has directed more than $20 million toward charities nationwide.
“The Community Arts Center provides art experiences for everyone in our community, regardless of age, income or background. Receiving even $10,000 would go a long way toward providing the spectacular annual exhibits that we are known for in our region. We’ve explored relationships between the arts and dinosaurs, trains and outer space. This grant will help us explore the arts and the Wild Wild West!” said Mary Beth Touchstone, executive director at the Community Arts Center.
The fall round of the Chase Community Giving program is designed to benefit smaller and local charities by being limited to 501(c)3 charities with operating budgets under $10 million. Touchstone notes, “Our annual budget is way below the $10 million cap — we operate on a shoestring, so these dollars will go a long way here in Kentucky.”
The top eligible charity receives $250,000 and the remaining 195 top charities earn $10,000 through $100,000 awards, for a total of $5 million in grants.
