A Danville man was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly poured scalding water on another man, burning him severely.

Damarintae S. Fischer, 23, was charged with first-degree assault and is being held in the Boyle County Detention Center under a $200,000 bond.

The victim, MDre J. Whitehead, 20, of Danville, was transferred from Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center to the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington for additional treatment of severe burns to his face and upper torso.

“Part of his upper body was peeling away and his face was blistered,” Danville Police Chief Tony Gray said.

Gray was at the emergency room of the Danville hospital checking on another crime victim when Whitehead was brought in about 4 p.m. and told Gray what happened.

Officers were dispatched to 416 Sixth Street, where the alleged assault occurred, and found Fischer and several witnesses still at the scene, Gray said. Fischer was taken into custody without incident.

The two men had been arguing prior to the assault, apparently because Fischer alleged that Whitehead had stolen something from him, the chief said.
