Danville police officers seized a large amount of stolen steel this morning and arrested a suspect.

About 12:40 a.m., Brian C. Montgomery, 24, of 266 Phillips Lane in Junction City, was arrested after a traffic stop in Danville, police said. Montgomery was allegedly driving a 1990 red Chevrolet pickup truck when an officer stopped him for not having taillights on his vehicle. Upon further investigation, two Danville police officers discovered a large amount of stolen steel in the bed of the truck. The steel, with an estimated value of less than $10,000, belongs to Norfolk Southern.

Montgomery was transported to Boyle County Detention Center and charged with receiving stolen property less than $10,000, possession of drug paraphernalia and no taillights. As of this morning, he was being held without bond pending an arraignment.
