Danville resident hit by SUV (October 31, 2012) |
A Boyle County man remains in a Lexington hospital this morning after being struck by a hit-and-run driver while taking out his trash Tuesday night.
John T. Davis, 77, suffered a broken wrist when he was hit from behind in front of his home at 645 Lexington Ave. about 7:40 p.m. Davis was first taken to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville and later transported to the University of Kentucky Medical Center, where he remains this morning.
“Everything seems to be fine, except he’s got a badly fractured wrist,” his ex-wife, Dora Davis, said.
According to a press release from Danville police, officers dispatched to the scene found Davis lying in the grass in front of his home. He told police that he was at the edge of Lexington Avenue setting out his trash for pickup when he was struck by an unknown vehicle. The vehicle did not stop, police said.
Dora Davis said neighbors heard the vehicle plow through other trash cans and called to report the hit-and-run. She said her ex-husband did not get a good look at the vehicle but believes it was an SUV. Anyone with information may call police, (859) 238-1224.
