Two men allegedly barged into a Denmark Drive home this morning and committed a “home invasion” style robbery, said Danville Police Chief Tony Gray.
About 12:20 a.m., Chancey T. Rainey, 32, and William Sean Rainey, 38, barged into a male acquaintance’s home without invitation, Gray said. The men allegedly used their fists to beat the homeowner and stole an undetermined amount of cash as well as prescription drugs, Gray said. The Raineys are related, though police did not know the nature of their relationship. The suspects fled the scene in a gold Pontiac Sunfire with loud exhaust.
The robbery victim was taken to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. As of this morning, police were seeking to arrest the Raineys on charges of first-degree robbery. Chancey Rainey’s last known address is 663 Ben Ali Dr. in Danville, while William Rainey’s permanent address is on Burton Circle in Danville.
Gray said home invasions are becoming much more common in Danville, especially with the escalating prescription drug addiction problem in the community.
“Unfortunately, we’ve been seeing a lot more of these in recent months,” Gray said.
If the Raineys are apprehended and convicted of first-degree robbery charges, they each face 10 to 20 years of incarceration.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Danville Police Department at (859) 238-1224.
