Mercer man charged with forcing entry into home
SALVISA — A Harrodsburg man was arrested after he allegedly forced entry into a home Sunday morning on Louisville Road in Salvisa.

According to the Mercer County Sheriff's Office, Jeremy Wilkerson, 35, of 5680 Deep Creek Road, entered the residence of his ex-girlfriend by kicking in the door.

The victim locked herself in a bedroom and called a neighbor, who arrived and attempted to distract Wilkerson, who was attempting to enter the bedroom where the victim was hiding.

The neighbor managed to get Wilkerson outside, according to Chief Deputy Scott Elder, and upon learning that the police had been contacted, Wilkerson fled the scene. As he was leaving, Wilkerson allegedly fired a shot out of his vehicle in the neighbor's direction.

Neither the victim nor the neighbor was harmed. It is undetermined if drugs or alcohol played a factor in the occurence, which lasted only a few minutes, according to Elder.

Wilkerson later turned himself in and was charged with burglary, fleeing or evading police, and wanton endangerment. He was lodged in the Boyle County Detention Center.
