Man charged with DUI, child endangerment
A Jessamine County man was arrested late Friday night after allegedly driving drunk and leaving a toddler in a vehicle.
Danville officers were conducting a traffic stop on a 1992 Jeep Cherokee in Kroger’s parking lot when they made contact with driver Keith Stansell, 28, of Nicholasville. Stansell was charged with driving under the influence and arrested.
Officers then located a 2-year-old girl inside the vehicle. Police said the child had been left unattended in the Jeep for more than 40 minutes in freezing temperatures while Stansell was in Kroger.
The child was not injured and was taken into police custody. She was released to family members after an investigation by police and Child Protective Services.
Stansell was then charged with first-degree wanton endangerment. He is being held without bond in the Boyle County Detention Center.
Crash injures Danville woman Friday afternoon
A Danville woman was injured when three cars collided Friday afternoon on Perryville Road.
Danville police said Brenda Myers, 62, of Danville was driving a 1992 Dodge Dynasty eastbound near the Viaduct at 3:40 p.m. when she rear-ended a 2000 Dodge Ram driven by Darrell Rice, 60, of Danville. The impact forced Rice’s truck forward, causing him to rear-end a 2007 Ford Expedition driven by Amelia Brown, 31, of Danville.
Myers was taken to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries.
Police said it’s possible Myers had a medical condition that caused the accident.
