PERRYVILLE — The second annual Red, White and Bluegrass Festival, hosted by Main Street Perryville, is set for noon-7 p.m. Saturday in downtown Perryville.
Kayla Alcorn, promotions chairwoman for Main Street Perryville, said the festival honors veterans.
“There is no better date than July 4 (to honor veterans). ... We want to remember veterans past and present, and keep their memories alive.”
The Moron Brothers will headline the bluegrass music offerings this year. ROTC programs have been invited to participate. Cards for $1 are being sold in memory of or in honor of veterans. They will be attached to yellow balloons and released over the Chaplin River at the end of the festival.
To purchase a balloon, call Main Street Perryville at (859) 332-1862 or Alcorn at (859) 319-9966.
A raffle will be held throughout the festival, with a variety of items available for purchase, including an item autographed by country music artist Eddie Montgomery. A variety of vendors will be set up at Red, White and Bluegrass, including Foodleaf Farm and a number of Kentucky Proud vendors. The Central Kentucky Humane Society will be on site with animals available for adoption.
Activities for children such as face painting and a petting zoo are planned. The downtown Perryville shops will be open.
The Red, White and Bluegrass Festival is free. Lawn chairs are suggested for attendees who want to listen to the music.
