An unknown suspect fired multiple gunshots into a Danville apartment occupied by a woman and two toddlers Tuesday, police said.
About 11:30 p.m., a woman called 911 to report that someone had fired four gunshots into the back door of her Patrician Place apartment, according to a police report.
The woman had two children, ages 1 and 3, in the residence with her, said Police Chief Tony Gray.
While police officers were en route, the woman called 911 again and said six to eight gunshots were fired. No one was hurt in the reported incident, Gray said.
“We have no suspects and no idea of a possible motive at this time,” the police chief said.
Crimes relating to guns and gunshots have become much more common in Danville especially in recent months, Gray said.
“Unfortunately, we are having several problems with people shooting at homes and using guns in robberies,” the police chief said.
Gray acknowledged the drug problem is escalating in Danville, but that officials have not found a direct correlation between the use of narcotics and non-robbery crimes such as the reported shooting at Patrician Place.
