Stanford man arrested after Garrard pileup

Brandon Biggs

A Stanford man was arrested early Monday morning by Kentucky State Police on charges stemming from a four-vehicle crash in Garrard County.

Brandon Scott Biggs, 31, was charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a loaded weapon, driving under the influence of intoxicants, insufficient headlamps, no seat belt,  and not having proper vehicle registration or an insurance card.

He was taken to the Lincoln County Regional Jail.

Prior to the crash near Sutton Road off Lexington Road north of Lancaster, a dispatch report had been issued about 4:41 a.m. cautioning law enforcement officers to be on the lookout for Biggs, who was reported to possibly be armed and driving a gold-colored Pontiac toward Boyle County from Lincoln County.

The report said Biggs was a suspect in an assault that had just occurred in Lincoln County. Officers were advised to use extreme caution as deputies had been advised he was armed with an AK-47 and a knife.

Lincoln County Sheriff Curt Folger said a woman, Ebony Black of 3025 U.S. 150 West, had called to complain that Biggs hit her in the head and left with a gun he stole from the home from Jeffrey Moore, who reported being present at the time.

No charges had yet been filed by Moore or Black.

Jail records show a $10,000 cash bond was set for Biggs Tuesday.
