LANCASTER — A Stanford man died and another is being treated for injuries after a traffic collision the morning of Dec. 26 in Garrard County.
At 10:22 a.m., Kentucky State Police in Richmond responded to the crash on U.S. 27 in northern Garrard County. Police said Jason Grizzell, 33, of Stanford, was driving north on U.S. 27 when his 1987 Toyota Corolla station wagon crossed the center line and collided with a southbound 2007 Mercedes sport-utility vehicle driven by Islam Ali, 31, of Nicholasville.
Garrard County Coroner Daryl Hodge said Grizzell was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:04 a.m. and emergency responders had to extricate him from the vehicle.
Ali was transported to University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center for treatment.
Trooper Eric Taylor is investigating the crash.
Grizzell was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and a member of Hustonville Baptist Church. Visitation and services for him were Friday.
