Two face Danville charges of drug trafficking
A Danville woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon after police and social services made a visit to her home at 220 Allene Drive.

Social services had received a report that narcotics were in the home where minor children reside, according to police.

When officials arrived, they found Amanda G. Abney, 29, and Maron T. Mebrahtu, 27. Police said details regarding children in the home will not be released.

Chief Tony Gray said police were granted permission to search the house, but Mebrahtu left immediately.

“When (police) first arrived with social services, they had no reason to detain him,” Gray said. “He left as police were leaving.”

Police located a loaded .45 caliber handgun along with suspected crack cocaine.

Abney was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and trafficking in a controlled substance within 1,000 yards of a school.

Abney was also served a warrant for a prior Jessamine County charge of fourth-degree assault.

Police are trying to locate Mebrahtu for charges of trafficking in a controlled substance within 1,000 yards of a school, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, second offense, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
