Unity in the Community starts Sunday
Churches from across Boyle County will join forces starting Sunday for a series of worship services designed to emphasize unity among Christian denominations and races.

The event will kick off at 6 p.m. at the new Centenary United Methodist Church sanctuary, 1441 Perryville Road, with the Rev. Tom Lane of Cornerstone Assembly of God delivering the sermon.

Special music will be provided by the male chorus from First Baptist Church, Second and Walnut streets. A separate youth service will be led by the Rev. Choe Sergent of First Baptist Church of Junction City with music by the Danville Christian Academy choir.

This year's services will continue at 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, culminating with a “Night of Praise” featuring choirs, musicians and other performers from area churches. The full schedule and more information is available at www.danvilleunity.org.

Unity in the Community, which started in 2006, brings together churches from across Boyle County. The services will feature pastors of predominantly black churches delivering sermons in the pulpits of predominantly white churches and vice versa in four nightly services. Everyone is invited.
