LANCASTER — A preliminary autopsy has shown that a woman found dead by her road in Garrard County died of a massive heart attack.
Garrard County Coroner Daryl Hodge said a neighbor drove past Debbie Browning’s house on Jim Clark Road about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. The neighbor said Browning, 51, was working on her fence row. The neighbor waved, and Browning waved back, Hodge said.
About 2 p.m. a Hustonville man visiting the neighbor left and spotted Browning’s body as he drove past and stopped to check on her.
“He went back to the house to get help from the neighbor, and they called 911,” Hodge said.
Browning was lying about two feet from the road and was dead, Hodge said.
Garrard County Sheriff’s Office, Lancaster police, Kentucky State Police and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene.
“We looked to see if she had been hit by a car, but there were no injuries,” said Hodge, who pronounced the woman dead. The body was taken to Frankfort for an autopsy.
