A woman who called police to report suspected abuse of her child was then herself arrested on an outstanding warrant.
Danville police did not find enough evidence to open an investigation when Kristy Benedict, 29, called them to the Village Apartments, 100 McClure Drive at 10:44 last night, according to information from police.
Benedict told police she was concerned that her child may have been abused at daycare.
“Officer Lisa Graff said there may have been some minor bruises on the child’s arm but nothing that appeared to be abuse,” Danville Police Captain Monroe said.
The mother was then arrested on an outstanding indictment warrant on charges of making false statements to receive benefits.
Benedict was transported to the Boyle County Detention Center where she remains pending arraignment.
Police said the child remained with other family members at the apartment and social services was not contacted.
