Danville robbery (June 2, 2012)

An unknown suspect with a gun robbed an employee of The Bottle Shoppe on Hustonville Road Friday, according to Danville police.

A black male entered the shop around 11 p.m. Friday and demanded money from the employee, police said. The alleged robber got an undetermined amount of cash and fled on foot. The suspect was wearing a red fleece shirt, black pants and a black mask.

No one was hurt in the robbery.

Man arrested on wanton endangerment charge

 

HARRODSBURG — An 18-year-old Harrodsburg man was arrested Wednesday for alleged wanton endangerment and possession of marijuana, Harrodsburg police said.

Donald E. Cocanougher, 18, of 1823 Shakertown Road, allegedly tried to run over a 20-year-old woman and her daughter on Pheasant Drive Tuesday night, according to a police report. The victims obtained an emergency protection order and filed criminal charges against Cocanougher.

Early Wednesday morning, a Harrodsburg police officer arrested Cocanougher during a traffic stop. The suspect consented to a search of his vehicle, where police offices found marijuana. He was arrested for wanton endangerment as well as possession of marijuana and cited for not wearing a seat belt.

As of Saturday, Cocanougher had bonded out of the custody of the Boyle County¿Detention Center.

 

Man arrested after chase

 

HARRODSBURG — A 27-year-old Salvisa man is in custody on a $5,000 cash bond after allegedly trying to evade Harrodsburg police officers.

Jeremy B. Vanwinkle, 27, of 3343 Talmadge-Mayo Road in Salvisa, is in the Boyle County Detention Center on charges of first-degree fleeing or evading police, reckless driving and an unrelated contempt of court warrant. Vanwinkle was also cited for several traffic offenses.

The charges stemmed from an incident Tuesday night in downtown Harrodsburg, when a police officer tried to stop Vanwinkle’s Toyota because he was not wearing a seat belt. Vanwinkle allegedly tried to get away from police, running a red light in the process and driving recklessly. He abandoned his car in a Chiles Street parking lot and tried to get away on foot, according to the police report. Within a few minutes, officers arrested Vanwinkle.
