Man injured in Danville assault

Danville police are looking for a man who allegedly assaulted another man early¿Saturday morning.

According to a press release, officers responded at 2:51 a.m. to a report of a fight in progress near the intersection of West Lexington¿Avenue and Fifth Street. Officers found a 25-year-old man who had suffered a serious facial injury, but the person who allegedly caused the injury had already fled the scene.

Witnesses told police a black male with corn-rowed hair wearing a green-and-white shirt and green pants approached a group of people and started an argument with the victim. The man then allegedly hit the victim in the face.

Police will not release the victim’s name due to the nature of the alleged threats made by the suspect. The victim was transported to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center for treatment.
