Ray Blevins, 88, died Friday.
He was born Jan. 10, 1924, in Hogue to the late Columbus and Lou Dick Blevins and was the husband of the late Reba Perry Blevins.
Mr. Blevins was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in five campaigns in the European Theater during World War II; he was a Private First Class with the 9th Infantry Division and was awarded five bronze stars for bravery and heroism. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, was a retired cutter for Palm Beach Co., enjoyed eating out with his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include one son, Steve Blevins of Perryville; one daughter, Becky Blevins of Danville; two grandchildren, Trevor (Elizabeth) Blevins and Tierra Blevins; five great-grandchildren, Grayson, Haley, Hanna and Chase Blevins, and Gavin McBride; and one sister, Ruby Hart.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Clyde, Spencer, and Glynn Blevins.
Funeral Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home with the Rev. Gene Shields officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery. Visitation is 11 a.m. Wednesday until time of service at the funeral home.
