LANCASTER — Nearly $350,000 of improvements will be made to Mount Hebron Road (Ky. 1355) starting in July under a resolution Garrard County Fiscal Court approved Monday.
After listening to a brief presentation from Kentucky Transportation¿Cabinet staff members, Fiscal Court voted unanimously to accept $348,000 of state funding under the rural secondary program. The funds will resurface nearly 4.7 miles of the road, and the project should be completed by the end of the year, Garrard Judge-Executive John Wilson said after the meeting.
“This decision was a great move for Garrard County,” Wilson said. “The road is in pretty bad shape.¿Some areas are starting to sink a little, so this project will make the road safer for drivers.”
Rural secondary funds from fiscal year 2011-12 were used to purchase guardrails for Wolf Trail (Ky. 563). Those guardrails will be installed soon, according to¿Wilson. The project costs $73,033 and covers about seven blocks of rural roadways.
Depending on funding, Fiscal Court will later examine whether to resurface part of Buckeye Road during the upcoming fiscal year or choose another road project. Officials have not yet determined their budget priorities for 2012-13, Wilson noted.
