LANCASTER — Jess Humphrey Jr., 79, of Danville Road, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at Lancaster Christian Care Center.
Born April 6, 1933, he was a son of the late Jess Humphrey Sr. and Cora Peel Humphrey. He was a lifetime farmer, worked many years as a police officer for the cities of Stanford and Perryville, and dearly loved country music. Jess was a member of Forks of Dix River Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Edwina Gilliam Humphrey; and children, David Humphrey (Roxanne) of Lancaster, Michael Humphrey (Robin) of Harrodsburg, Debbie Carrier (Jerry) of Lancaster and Lisa Humphrey of Lancaster; a brother, Elwood Humphrey (Maybelle) of Harrodsburg; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 7, 2012, at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Leon Thomas and Daryl Hodge officiating. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Matt Carrier, Adam Carrier, Jason Fyfe, Chad Humphrey, Joe Humphrey, Daniel Humphrey, Jon Humphrey, and Keith Humphrey. Honorary pallbearers are Brandy Adams, Kathy Humphrey, Billy Humphrey, Ricky Humphrey, Barbara Broce, Vicky Riley and Donna Lakes.
Visitation is 5-9 p.m. Wednesday.
