STANFORD — Ruth L. Dailey, 96, of Stanford, died Friday, March 23, 2012.
Born Aug. 21, 1915, in Waynesburg, she was a daughter of the late Ed and Cora Mae Watts Leach. She was the widow of George J. Dailey, whom she married in 1936.
Ruth was a seamstress for over 60 years, a member of Stanford Christian Church and the Eastern Star, and she worked with the Layman's League and the nursery at Stanford Christian Church. The chimes in the church were donated by Ruth in memory of her daughter Robbie Jean Owens and her granddaughter, Melva Jean Owens after their deaths in 1994.
Survivors include a brother, Earl Leach of Florence; a sister, Mae Phillippi of Beaver Creek, Ohio; and 14 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Robbie Jean Owens; a son-in-law, Melvin Owens; a granddaughter, Melva Jean Owens; two brothers, Elmer Leach and Tolbert Leach; and a sister, Blanche Skidmore.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at Stanford Christian Church. Rev. Jim Baughman will be officiating the service. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon until time of service Tuesday at the church.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be given to the Stanford Christian Church or the Lincoln County Educational Fund.
