OWENSBORO — Atmos Energy, the natural gas company in Danville, is reporting system improvements for the downtown Danville area.
“Our project will begin around June 25 and end around early September of this year,” said Mike Vallet, Atmos Energy Danville’s operations supervisor.
This program involves replacing downtown infrastructure and relocating meters.
“The city of Danville approached Atmos Energy requesting partnership with their beautification efforts,” Vallet said. “Atmos Energy believed in the city’s mission, but also recognized an opportunity to relocate our facilities where they are easier to access and maintain. Our project also makes allowances for future downtown revitalization and beautification programs.”
The project will begin on the following streets:
- Fourth Street between West Walnut and Broadway
- Third Street between West Walnut and Martin Luther King Boulevard
- Second Street between West Walnut and Broadway
- West Walnut between Fourth and Third streets
- Behind the Main Street buildings on the north side from Second to Fourth streets
Atmos Energy anticipates some reduced traffic flow, but no street closings for any length of time.
“Our goal is always safety and reliability first on any project,” Vallet said.
Prior to any construction, Atmos Energy will place a door tag on the customer’s front entrance or will make contact. Also, if there are any disruptions to service, Atmos Energy will make personal customer contact. If any affected customers have any questions or concerns, call Atmos Energy at (270) 236-2291.
