Benefit set for tornado victims

Danville Dairy Queen will hold a benefit 5-9 p.m. Tuesday for tornado victims. Proceeds during this time will be donated to tornado victims. Dairy Queen is near the intersection of Hustonville Road and the bypass, in front of Walmart.

 

Law office accepting donations for tornado victims

Helton, Erwin and Associates will be accepting donations for the tornado victims in eastern Kentucky 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at 432 W. Main St.

People are asked to bring non-perishable food items, blankets, pillows and other items that may be needed by those displaced by the storms.

 

Dinner event set for Saturday

FORKLAND — The eighth annual Forkland Pie Supper and Spaghetti Dinner will be held Saturday at the Forkland Community Center.

The spaghetti dinner runs from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Menu is spaghetti with either meat or marinara (tomato) sauce and parmesan cheese; tossed salad; breadsticks; and iced tea or lemonade. After the dinner, the pie auction will be held.

Admission is free. Cost of the spaghetti dinner is $5 for adults, $3 for children ages 3-10 and free for children 2 and under.

 

Activities at the Boyle County Public Library

The Boyle County Public Library has the following upcoming events:

  • This month’s Third Thursday Book Club selection, “A Tale of Two Cities” by Charles Dickens, will be discussed March 15 at the library. Copies are available at the circulation desk on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  • The Friends of the Library will sponsor a special event, “Composting and Worm Culture,” noon March 14 at the library. The event will be presented by Deborah Larkin and Joanna Kirby. A live worm culture bin will be given away in a drawing to an attendee of the program.
  • The Friends of the Library’s “American Comedy Classics II” film series will begin 7 p.m. March 15 with a 1932 comedy directed by Norman Z. McLeod and starring Groucho Marx. Admission is free.

 

Congressman Guthrie to speak

U.S. Congressman Brett Guthrie will speak at noon March 15 at Danville Country Club.

Guthrie will be the first speaker in the AT&T¿Public Policy Series sponsored by Danville-Boyle County Chamber of Commerce. Lunch will start at 11:45 a.m.
