Danville Christmas parade set

The downtown Danville Christmas parade will be 7 p.m. Nov. 24 on Main Street. The mayor’s Christmas tree lighting will take place prior to the parade at 6 p.m. in Weisiger Park. 

The theme for this year’s parade will be “Classic Christmas Characters,” and parade floats should reflect that theme. Anyone who wants to receive a parade entry form can email the Heart of Danville at info@downtowndanville.com or call (859) 236-1909 to be placed on the mailing list. Deadline for entries is Nov. 14.

 

Free meal for veterans

The Dairy Queens in Danville, Harrodsburg and Stanford will offer all veterans and active-duty military personnel a free meal from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday on Veterans Day. This offer is good for any one combo meal per person, eat-in only. Veterans and active-duty military are to show proof of military service to receive the free meal.

 

Correction

McKinney Christian Church will have a soup supper hosted by the Lydia Circle beginning at 4:30 p.m. Friday. The cost is $5 for adults and $2.50 for children. The menu includes soup, sandwiches, desserts and drinks. The date of the event was incorrect in a previous publication.

 

Meetings

Garrard County Fiscal Court — 9 a.m. Friday at Garrard County Courthouse. Agenda for the special-called meeting includes first reading of the ordinance to issue bonds for Berea College.

Boyle and Mercer County Joint Jail Committee — 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Mercer County Courthouse in the old Gateway building. Items on the agenda include the jailer’s report; local corrections assistance fund monies; October financial statement; and October claims paid.
