Pet of the week, Violet

Our pets of the week are Martin and Violet. Martin is a cute and frisky, 14-week old kitten.  He’s white with just a few light gray streaks on his forehead, and he has a bobbed tail. Martin is a friendly little fellow and will make a wonderful family pet. Come and visit Martin and see if he's the right kitty for you!
Violet is a beautiful shepherd mix that appears to be about 5 years old. This girl was found as a stray but she is exceptionally well-mannered. Violet obviously had a home, but we don't know why her owner has not come to reclaim her. She is very friendly, walks nicely on a leash, and also gets along well with other dogs. Violet is a special dog, can you give her a special home?
If you are considering adding a pet to your family, come to our adoption center on the Danville bypass next to the fairgrounds and visit the beautiful animals waiting for new homes. You also can preview many of our available pets at our website www.homes4pets.org
Our next obedience class will be 12:30 p.m. Aug. 6 at Stuart Powell Ford on the bypass. The class, taught by dog trainer Cheri Carbone, is free to anyone who has adopted from a shelter or rescue. Others are welcome to join in for a small donation to the humane society.
The humane society needs volunteers to help on weekend afternoons at our adoption center at the PetSmart at Brannon Crossing in Nicholasville.  Contact our volunteer coordinator by email at humanevolunteer@gmail.com to learn how you can help with the rewarding work of placing homeless animals with their new forever families.
The humane society welcomes donations of Purina puppy chow and Purina cat food and kitten chow, along with bleach, paper towels, laundry detergent, dish detergent and hand soap.  We always need used towels and blankets.  Your donations to the shelter are greatly appreciated.
Low-cost, high-quality spay or neuter surgery is available for pet owners with low and fixed incomes.  For an appointment, call our Happy Paws Clinic at (859) 691-1137.
