Five pistols stolen in Danville car burglary

Danville police are investigating a gun theft that was reported Monday.

Elmer Asher Jr. of 412 Grant St. told police he had five pistols stolen from his unlocked vehicle parked outside his residence. The theft occurred during the night between Sunday and Monday.

Police Chief Tony Gray said the guns are a .380 pistol, a 9mm pistol and possibly three .22 caliber pistols. They were valued at about $1,000. Two knives and a bottle of liquor also were taken.
