HARRODSBURG — Mercer County students begin classes Aug. 8, just two days earlier than they did in the 2011-12 school year.
All staff members must report to work on Aug. 7, said Betty Sims, director of pupil personnel.
School is scheduled to end for students May 20 and for employees the following day. However, school will end later if students need to make up days missed due to inclement weather.
Mercer students and school personnel have fall break Oct. 5-12, Thanksgiving break Nov. 21-23, winter holiday Dec. 20-Jan. 2 and spring break April 1-5. School closes early Dec. 19 for winter holiday.
“We are very excited about our new school year, and are looking forward to our students returning and beginning our 2012-2013 school year,” Sims said.
LANCASTER — Garrard County students will return to classes Aug. 8, two days earlier than they did last year.
School personnel report back to work Aug. 6, said Bobbie Jean Ball, director of pupil personnel. The last scheduled school day for students will be May 15, and the closing day for staff is May 16. The 2011-12 and 2012-13 academic calendars are very similar, according to Ball. School is not in session on Labor Day and Martin
Luther King Day. Students and personnel have fall break from Oct. 8 to 12, Thanksgiving break from Nov. 21 to 23, winter holiday from Dec. 24 to Jan. 1 and spring vacation from April 1 to 5. Pupils do not attend classes on staff development days, which are slated for Dec. 20 and 21, Jan. 2, Feb. 18, March 15 and 18.
