Pre-K programs accept applications
LIBERTY — KERA Preschool and Lake Cumberland Head Start/Early Start are taking applications for the 2012-2013 school year.
Preschool eligibility is based on income or special need. Head start is for eligible 3- and 4-year-olds. Early head start is for income-eligible families, including pregnant women, infants and toddlers through the age of three.
The following is required for applications: official birth certificate; Social Security card; income verification; medical card/ insurance number; immunization certificate, including chicken pox; and completed school medical exam form.

Firearms class being offered
A concealed carry class will be 9 a.m. to completion Saturday.

Mackville Truck pull rescheduled
Due to rain, the Mackville Truck and Tractor Pull has been rescheduled for Saturday.
Weigh-in begins at 4 p.m., and the pulls start at 5 p.m. Concessions will be available. For more information call Eddie Noel at (859) 262-5104.
Habitat plans groundbreaking
HARRODSBURG — Mercer County Habitat for Humanity will have a groundbreaking ceremony for its new partner family, Annette Chapman, at 3 p.m. Sunday at the site in Quail Run subdivision at the end of Pheasant Drive. Everyone is invited.
Deadline set for elk hunting permits
FRANKFORT — Hunters have until midnight April 30 to apply for a Kentucky elk hunt.
Hunters may only apply online. Visit the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife website at fw.ky.gov for more information and to apply.
