Back-to-school picnic, orientation planned
Woodlawn Elementary School will have new parent orientation at 5 p.m. Thursday in the school’s media center. Parents new to Woodlawn can learn the ins and outs of the school, including how the car circle works, the importance of the home/school notebook, and other useful information to help students and parents have a successful year at Woodlawn.
Woodlawn will have its annual PTO back–to-school picnic at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Students can meet their teachers and share hot dogs, chips and drinks with their class- mates and teacher.
NAACP will hold banquet for fundraiser
The Danville/Boyle County branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) will sponsor its 37th Annual Freedom Fund Banquet to raise money for scholarships to be given to high school seniors. The banquet will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, 555 E. Lexington Ave.

Frankl will speak at Jessamine luncheon
The Jessamine County Chamber of Commerce’s August luncheon will have Eric Frankl, executive director of Lexington Blue Grass Airport, as its feature speaker. Frankl will discuss the current state of the airport and future plans.

Lincoln County Board of Education — 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the central office. Agenda items include action on whether to repaint and resurface the gym floor at Lincoln County High School as well as updates regarding roofing projects at the central office, the high school, Hustonville and McKinney elementary schools.
