Weight loss program offered

 McDowell Wellness Center is offering a new “Lose Weight Feel Great” program that begins Tuesday.
“Lose Weight Feel Great” is an eight-week weight loss program supervised by Janet Fluty, a registered dietitian on staff at McDowell Wellness Center, in coordination with fitness trainers there. The program includes group instruction and support as well as individual consultation with the dietitian and a trainer.  The program will emphasize weight loss through improved metabolism, good nutrition and exercise with structure, accountability and flexibility.
There is also a “biggest loser” component to the program.  It includes cash prizes to individuals who lose the most weight, most inches and greatest percentage of body fat.
Free introductions to the program will be 6 p.m. Tuesday, and 6 p.m. and  9 a.m. Wednesday. Classes begin on Jan. 18 and 19. Participants may choose which class to attend.

Sign Language classes offered

Community Sign Language Classes will be held 6:30-8:30 p.m. Jan. 31-March 28 at Kerr Hall on the campus of Kentucky School for the Deaf. Classes include Beginning ASL I-A, Beginning ASL I-B and  Beginning ASL II-A. Classes are subject to cancellation pending a minimum of 15 students enrolled in each class. Cost is $40 per person.
