Woodlawn Elementary Dinner Theatre set for Friday Woodlawn Elementary School will present its fourth annual dinner theater, titled “We are the World,” at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Boyle County High School. The event will feature musical performances from each grade, kindergarten through fifth. Tickets are available at Woodlawn Elementary School. Proceeds from the concert go to benefit the Woodlawn Parent-Teacher Organization for technology. Garrard County Public Library Activities at the Garrard County Public Library this week are: Yam Easter egg craft program — Learn how to make pretty Easter eggs out of yams at this craft program, 5 p.m. Tuesday. Open to all ages, registration is required by calling (859) 792-3424. Story Hour — Story Hour meets 10 a.m. every Wednesday and 1 p.m. every Thursday for children 18 month to 4 years old and help them develop skills that will enable them to succeed at school. Gaming 4 U — Wii gaming at the Garrard County Public Library is open to teens ages 13-18 at 3:30 p.m. every other week. Basic email class — The Garrard County Public Library Workforce Development Center will have a free computer class in basic email skills at 1 p.m. on Friday. Toddler Time — 6 p.m. every Thursday for children ages 18 months through 4 years old. Registration is required by calling (859) 792-3424. Week-long book sale The Friends of the Casey County Public Library will be hosting a book sale, which is open to the public, beginning at 10 a.m. today and running through Saturday. Sale hours are 10-2 p.m. today, 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, 10-2 p.m. Thursday, 4-7 p.m. Friday and 10-2 p.m. Saturday. Many of the titles are priced at 25 cents. The presentations include childrens’ books the students have written and published, debates, videos, a museum of the Industrial Revolution with recreations made by students, a silent auction of artwork, independent science presentations and presentations on the Holoucaust, among others. Students in the school’s Y-Club will display a mini-Ethiopia with presentations on deforestation, in conjunction with their trip to the Kentucky United Nations Assembly. There also will be a spaghetti dinner for $5 and a National Junior Honors Society fundraiser. The community is invited to attend the event and support the students in their efforts. Meetings Boyle County Democratic Women’s Club — 7 p.m. Thursday at the Danville Bowlarama Restaurant. The guest speaker will be Libby Suttles, marketing director for Bluebird Market/Wilderness Trace Development Center. The public is welcome. Danville-Boyle County Convention and Visitors Bureau Board of Directors — 8 a.m. Thursday at Grayson’s Tavern at Constitution Square Historic Site. Hogsett Elementary School Council — 9:30 a.m. Friday for a special-called meeting at the central office, 152 Martin Luther King Blvd. Agenda includes a closed session to review applications and interview applicants for the principal vacancy at Hogsett Elementary School. No action will be taken.
