CPR, first aid classes offered
The Boyle County Fire Department will offer a CPR and first aid class beginning 8 a.m. April 9 at the fire department headquarters, 1500 Lebanon Road. Cost to take the class is $20, which covers the cost of cards. The class is open to all Boyle County residents. The deadline for registration is April 4. For more information or to register, call Lt. ‘Mohawk tribe’ event scheduled
The Woodlawn and Boyle County family resource centers are hosting the “Native American Nations: The Mohawk Tribe” 8:45 a.m.-2:45 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the Boyle County Fairgrounds. Five stations will be set up, including tribal dancers, a baby buffalo and horse, music, storytelling, and a bow and tomahawk area.
Weight loss program offered
McDowell Wellness Center offers a new “Lose Weight Feel Great” program. It is an eight-week weight loss program supervised by Janet Fluty, a registered dietitian on staff at the center, in coordination with fitness trainers there. The program includes group instruction and support as well as individual consultation with the dietitian and a trainer. It will emphasize weight loss through improved metabolism, good nutrition and exercise with structure, accountability and flexibility.
There is also a “biggest loser” component to the program. It includes prizes to individuals who lose the most weight, most inches and greatest percentage of body fat.
Free introductions to the program are offered 6 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. Wednesday. Classes begin on April 5 and 6. Participants may choose which class to attend — Tuesdays at 6 p.m. or on Wednesdays at 9 a.m.

King Blvd. The purpose of the meeting is to review the current district facility plan as it relates to the district’s elementary facilities. The public is welcome.
