Perryville City Council —7 p.m. today at the Community Center. Agenda items include a second reading of the tax ordinance; an update on property violation notices; Planning and Zoning goals and objectives; and an update on the street closures for the celebration weekend.
Ham breakfast set for Saturday
Danville’s Masonic Lodge will host a country ham breakfast 7-10 a.m. Saturday at the lodge hall, 400 N. Fourth St. The menu includes country ham, sausage, bacon, pancakes, eggs, potatoes, biscuits, gravy, coffee, orange juice and pastries. Everyone is welcome.

Citizens Concerned for Human Relations is sponsoring a community-wide diversity book read for November 2012.
The book, “The Pact,” by Drs. Sampson Davis, George Jenkins and Rameck Hunt, with Lisa Frazier Page, is the inspiring story of how three young African-American men who grew up on the streets of Newark, N.J. , became medical doctors.
Books can be checked out 2-5 p.m. today at the Boyle County Public Library, or call (859) 236-7198 to reserve a copy. Another opportunity to check out books later in October will be announced.
Two group discussion sessions will be held, 3-5 p.m. Nov. 4 and 6:30-8 p.m. Nov. 12 at the library.
