Boyle middle girls team hosts fundraiser

A September holiday shopping fundraiser for the Boyle County Middle School girls’ basketball team will be 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, at BCMS. The fundraiser, which is open to the public, will have a variety of vendors displaying new fall products from companies such as Mary Kay, Avon, Pampered Chef, Tastefully Simple, Thirty-One, Pink and Zebra. Most booths will have “cash and carry” options and many vendors will also take orders for future pickup.

 

Cooking class on tap in Mackville

MACKVILLE — Chef Eric Black, graduate of Culinary Institute of America, will present a hands-on cooking class 10 a.m.-noon on Saturday at Mackville Community Center. McDowell offers free health screening

Ephraim McDowell Health is sponsoring a free health screening from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Gethsemane Baptist Church in Danville.

Health screenings that will be offered are cholesterol and lipid profile, glucose, blood pressure, body mass index, stroke risk scorecard and heart rate. After the screenings are complete, participants will have the opportunity to discuss their results with a licensed health professional.

Participants should not eat 12 hours prior to their screening if they would like to have the blood test that gives them a full lipid panel. This gives the participant detailed information including their HDL, LDL, triglycerides and glucose. Non-fasting total cholesterol and glucose will also be available.

Blood drive visits BCTC in Danville

The Kentucky Blood Center bloodmobile will be at Bluegrass Community and Technical College’s Danville campus from 8-11:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Every donor will be entered to win a $25 Walmart gift card. Call Melanie Sallee at (859) 246-6868 to schedule an appointment.

Danville Parking Regulation Board — 9:30 a.m. Thursday at city hall. Agenda items include hearing appeals of parking citations.
