Auditions set for commemmoration play
The Friends of the Library announce auditions for middle and high school students for “Perryville Stories,” to be performed as a Reader’s Theatre production during the 150th anniversary commemoration of the Battle of Perryville. Auditions will be 4:30 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday at the Boyle County Public Library.
“Perryville Stories” was developed from a writing and research project done by Danville High School students in 1999 during a semester-long English project with teacher Joan Haigh.
The monologues paint a moving and realistic picture of life in the community — before, during and after the battle.
Characters range in age from 6 to 60 and include slaves, children, townspeople, soldiers and others affected by the battle and the war. Their stories show a very personal connection to the historical battle.
