Norman Mottes Bartleson, 75, transitioned Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born Nov. 6, 1936, in Harrodsburg, he was a son of the late Walter Bartleson and Viola Black.
He was the devoted husband of 55 years to Agnes Neal Bartleson. Celebrating his life are his daughters, Larita (Basil) Smotherman, Delphine (Ricky) Chenault and Bonita Bartleson. To carry on his legacy are three grandchildren, Tao (Corey) Mosley, Austin Chenault and Basil Smotherman. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving sister, Shirley Bartleson; a mother-in-law, Vernocia Neal; and a host of loved ones.
Norman was a member of First Baptist Church Second and Walnut Streets at 200 W. Walnut St., Danville. He diligently served and chaired the Trustee Board. Norman was a retired Danville postal carrier, current president of the Danville-Boyle County chapter of the NAACP, first vice president of the Commonwealth of Kentucky NAACP, lifetime member of the NAACP, a Kentucky Colonel, past member of the Human Rights Board and past chairman of Danville-Boyle County Recreation Department
Visitation will be 4-6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, followed by a Celebration of Life at 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church Second and Walnut Streets.
Interment will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 21, at Maple Grove Cemetery in Harrodsburg, Ky.
