STANFORD — Jennifer Reed has been named chairwoman of the Lincoln County Republican Party after the resignation of Candice Franklin due to health issues.
Reed grew up in Lincoln County and graduated from Crab Orchard High School. Lynda Closson, party secretary, said, “At this time, she is the perfect person to lead our county party. She has excellent leadership qualities, and her values are right in line with the Republican Party.”
Reed said she wants to build the Lincoln County Republican Party to the point it is one of the most successful in the state. At her first meeting as chairwoman, it was noted by several members that folks already were changing their party preference and more new members were in attendance.
Dwight Hopkins, a candidate for Lincoln circuit clerk, remarked, “It is a serious and crucial time to be a Republican. The Republican Party offers a clear choice of candidates that will work for the people. The selection of Jennifer Reed to be our chairman proves our commitment to the people of Lincoln County.”
The party meets at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at First Southern Community Arts Center. Everyone is welcome.
