While on a paper delivery route, Ben Carter, The Advocate Messenger’s district manager, came upon two men trapped in a truck in a creekbed surrounded by rising waters on Monday afternoon on¿Mitchellburg’s Knob at the Boyle-Casey county line.
The two men, one of whom had a broken leg unrelated to the incident, apparently had attempted to drive up the rising creek waters to a cabin that sat up a hill from where they were stuck. The water had forced the truck back, lodging the rear of the truck unsteadily on the sandbar, parallel to the road. After stopping to speak with the men, Carter retrieved a tow truck, with driver, which pulled the men and truck to safety.
According to Boyle County Sheriff Marty Elliot, about four inches of moving water is enough to cause a vehicle to shift and could potentially be hazardous.
